Built by Henry Flagler in 1889 as the Alcazar Hotel which contained recreational facillities such as health spas, gymnasiums, steam baths and the world largest indoor swimming pool.The hotel closed in the depression and was bought by Otto Lightner in 1948, founder of Hobbies Magazine to house his collection of hobbies. Lightner willed the building and his collections to the City of St. Augustine.
