Near midnight of September the 26th, hurricane Jeanne made landfall at Hutchinson Island in the same East Central Florida area as hurricane Frances. Jeanne then moved northwest across the state to the Gulf Coast near Tampa before turning northward. In the northeast Florida/southeast Georgia area the winds and rains were less than with hurricane Frances . . . however trees were blown down again and there were more power outages. Flooding was again extensive . . . especially in the rural inland counties.
